In 1978, he graduated from the Economics Department of Lomonosov Moscow State University. From the same year, he worked at the Krasny Proletariy plant as an engineer-economist. In 1984, he defended his PhD thesis at Moscow State University, then worked at the Academy of National Economy under the USSR Council of Ministers.
In 1985-1998, he worked at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations as an assistant, then associate professor of the political economy department. Since 1998 - Vice-Rector of ATiSO for educational work.
From 2005 to 2009 - Rector of the Academy of Labor and Social Relations.
In 2005-2009 - Chairman of the Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation for professional and business education.
Currently, he is the first deputy director of the Institute of Social and Economic Sciences of the Russian State Humanitarian University. In 2002, he was awarded the Russian Government Prize in Education for creating an economics textbook as part of a team of scientists.
He was awarded the medal "In Memory of the 850th Anniversary of Moscow", the honorary badge "For Active Work in Trade Unions", and the badge "Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation".
