Abstract

The article deals with international legal norms and cooperation of States in the field of counter-terrorism. The threat of terrorism has become global and, with the increasingly acute competition for raw materials, the issue is acquiring paramount importance to the international community. The current way to counter the spread of terrorism, including Islamic terrorism, is to implement and maintain multilateral contacts between countries within borders established not only by international universal organizations, regional international organizations to ensure that international legal norms and relations are active and effective.

It should be borne in mind that the Collective Security Treaty Organization (hereinafter CSTO) was created to protect the interests of Russia and of member countries from terrorist and extremist attacks.

The states that joined the CSTO are taking significant action to ensure their security and contribute to the development of humanity and modern civilization without threats from illegitimate terrorist and illegal groups that are engaged in the dissemination of dangerous forms of destructive behavior called terrorism and extremism and the threat of its spread, as they have at their disposal the relevant security agencies and as they signed and ratified in their territories International legal treaties and obligations.

The article pays special attention to considering the basis of Russia’s national security and its correlation with the objectives proclaimed in the CSTO Charter. The geopolitical challenges facing us today occupy a very important place in the activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
